Photomicrographic time-lapse video; custom snow-crystal growth chamber with built-in photomicroscope

A laboratory-created snow crystal is revealed, first growing and then evaporating away. A chamber was used to surround the crystal with fog droplets as it grew. Total elapsed time was 78 minutes. At its maximum size, the crystal measured 3.5 millimeters from tip to tip.
