Strange Square Air Bubbles Formed on a Tea Bag, 2016

The photomicrograph reveals air bubbles of a most unusual square shape. They formed on top of a tea bag immersed in water. When the sample air bubbles were covered with a cover slip, they connected with each other at their corners. The image was produced using darkfield illumination and polarized light.
