This new species of fly was collected from the Vietnam Central Highlands in 1999. The genitalia of different flies have subtle variations that can be used to distinguish different species. The genital organs shown here in this female specimen are typical of Hirtodrosophila. The most prominent feature is the oviscapt with the highly sclerotized pegs or teeth.
