Photomacrograph made with a digital SLR camera system
Microptics, Inc., Yonkers, New York, United States
This Cichlid fish, Paratilapia sp. (Cichlidae), measured 4 cm from nose to tail. The specimen was clarified and stained before submersion in a clear vessel filled with alcohol. It was then
illuminated from three directions. Additional transmitted light eliminated shadows in the photographic setup.
The specimen was photographed through the courtesy of the American Museum of Natural History, New York.
