The image shows the entire human digestive system of a normal, adult male from mid-esophagus to mid-rectum. It has been used to illustrate the digestive tract in four recent anatomy books. The photographer also works for the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Tropical Diseases as well as the Center for Biodefense in Galveston, Texas.
