Tilia( Linden) sp: Darkfield 2008
Photomicrograph; Olympus compound darkfield photomicroscope; magnification approximately x10 at capture; direct digital capture – SPOT II camera
Biomedical Photographic Communications, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York, United States
This photomicrograph shows a sample of Tilia sp. (Linden), a botanical specimen with unique, circular structures. The microscope used to make the image was outfitted with darkfield condenser because it best delineated the internal structures that would otherwise be transparent in traditional brightfield illumination microscopy. Many individual images were captured and have been stitched together to make up this composite photograph, which exhibits high structural detail and resolution.
