Two glycerol droplets were dropped, one after the other, into a solution of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) to visualize the flow and folding behavior of a viscous liquid moving through a less-viscous environment. This has relevance to the field of microfluidics. Rheinberg illumination was used to optically color the different liquids.
