There is a constant struggle for life in every situation. As the staining solution dried on this histological tissue section, crystals began to grow - eventually taking over the entire area. New life seemed to be represented by the whiteness of the crystals on the dark background. At the same time, other patterns were reminiscent of wave-washed sand.
