Photomacrograph; color negative film

Dublin, Ireland

An Albino Axolotl, Ambystoma mexicanum, or salamander, was preserved in alcohol and stored in a glass vial. The specimen's size was approximately 3 inches in length by 1 inch high. This image was originally part of the exhibition, "Future Nature," an art/science collaboration that featured unique animal embryos and fetuses that are part of the research collections of Hubrecht Laboratory, in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and the Tornblad Institute, in Lund, Sweden. The exhibition's first venue was in Dublin, Ireland, in 2002.
