Tun Study, 2005
Digitally-Edited Radiograph; Faxitron x-ray equipment; mammography film; post capture colorization
Jim Wehtje Photography, Rochester, New York, United States
These three radiographic views reveal the structure of a banded tun shell, Tonna sulcosa. Banded tuns are mollusks native to Indo-Pacific waters. Their external shell markings are typically white with brown spiral ridges. Each image was exposed using a single piece of mammography film and the composite was created post capture. The radiographs were exposed using low energy x-rays, also called Grenz rays, using a .5 mm source size.
